Loading the Pentax K1000
This page describes the use of the K1000 cameras.
BE VERY CARFULL NO TO TOUCH THE CLOTH SHUTTER IF DAMAGED YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE CAMERA.
To load the Pentax K1000 hold the camera in your left hand with the lens facing down.
Lift the BLACK part of the rewind knob (DO NOT LIFT BY THE SILVER REWIND CRANK AS IT CAN BE SNAPPED OFF) it is spring loaded and will release the back. Open the back gently.
Place the film cassette in the left chamber. The protruding part on the cassette slots into the lower part of the chamber. The narrow part of the film at the bottom.
Push the rewind knob down so it engages with the cassette.
Drag enough film out to reach the other side of the camera.
Slot the end of the film into the take-up reel far enough that you can see it from the other side, put not fo far as to stick out.
Wind the film with the winder ONCE.
Ensure the film is engaged in the sprockets - use the rewind crank to take up any slack.
Close the back carefully.
Wind the film to the zero on the counter.
Listen to the camera as you wind and make sure there are no scrunching noises.
Watch the rewind crank is turning when you wind.
